Reference check

We partner with CreditLadder, an FCA-regulated and Open Banking pioneer, to perform a fast and fully secured tenant reference check using this government-backed technology. Should a traditional approach is required, we will contact the tenant immediately.

Step 1

Each prospective tenant receives an email from CreditLadder with a link to a referencing form to complete.

Step 2

The prospective tenant enters their personal details, their past 3 years of address history, any information relating to bad credit such as CCJs, IVAs and bankruptcy and income details. They then securely link their bank for one time read-only access.

Step 3

CreditLadder will scan for income and rent payments. The completed report and recommendation is sent to Build To Rent who will make the final decision.

The prospective tenant will need:

  • Personal information
  • Passport number (if available)
  • A copy of photo ID for upload
  • 3 years most recent address history
  • Current tenancy including landlord/agent details
  • Income including employment type, start date and gross income
  • Where self-employed accountants details
  • Online banking login information
